Description
好適な態様において、算出回路は、両センサの出力信号に基づいて衝突物体の剛性を算出し、判定回路は、前記衝突物体の質量及び剛性に基づいて衝突物体が歩行者かそうでないかを判別する。このようにすれば、単なる衝突衝撃力ではなく、従来まったく考慮されていなかった衝突物体の質量及び剛性の両方に関する電気量により歩行者の種別を判定するため、単に衝突衝撃力による歩行者種別判定に比べて判定精度を向上することができる。もちろん、この発明において、質量及び剛性以外の電気量として得た物理パラメータを判定に更に追加利用することもできることは当然である。
この実施形態の車両用衝突物体判別装置の構成を図1に示すブロック図及び図2に示すセンサ模式配置図により説明する。
(歩行者判別例1)
以下、上記した衝突荷重を用いた歩行者判別方法について図7に示すフローチャートを参照して説明する。
(変形態様)
上記実施例では、衝突物体の質量と剛性とを別々に歩行者範囲にあるかどうかを判別したが、質量と剛性と歩行者範囲との組み合わせをマップに記憶し、質量と剛性をこのマップに入力して歩行者判別を行うことも当然可能である。
(変形態様)
上記実施例では、衝突物体の質量と剛性との両方に基づいて衝突物体が歩行者かどうかを判定したが、衝突物体の質量と剛性とのどちらか一方の判定を省略することも当然可能である。

Claims (9)
- 衝突荷重を検知する衝突荷重検出センサと、
自車の速度を検知する車速センサと、
前記両センサの出力信号に基づいて衝突物体の質量を算出する算出回路と、
前記衝突物体の前記質量に基づいて前記衝突物体が歩行者かそうでないかを判別する判定回路と、
を備える車両用衝突物体判別装置において、
前記算出回路は、
前記衝突荷重を一回時間積分して求めた一回積分値と衝突開始時の車速とに基づいて衝突物体の質量を算出することを特徴とする車両用衝突物体判別装置。 - 請求項1記載の車両用衝突物体判別装置において、
前記算出回路は、前記前記両センサの出力信号に基づいて前記衝突物体の剛性を算出し、
前記判定回路は、前記衝突物体の前記質量及び前記剛性に基づいて前記衝突物体が歩行者かそうでないかを判別することを特徴とする車両用衝突物体判別装置。 - 請求項2記載の車両用衝突物体判別装置において、
前記算出回路は、
前記衝突荷重を2回時間積分して求めた二回積分値と前記質量と前記衝突開始時の車速とに基づいて衝突物体の剛性を算出することを特徴とする車両用衝突物体判別装置。 - 請求項2又は3記載車両用の車両用衝突物体判別装置において、
前記算出回路は、
前記衝突荷重が最大値となった後、前記衝突荷重が前記最大値に対して所定比率となるしきい値まで減少した時点で衝突物体の質量と剛性を算出することを特徴とする車両用衝突物体判別装置。 - 請求項1乃至3のいずれか記載の車両用衝突物体判別装置において、
衝突物体と車両のバンパとの接触幅を検知する幅センサを有し、
前記算出回路は、
前記衝突荷重を2回時間積分して求めた二回積分値と前記質量と前記衝突開始時の車速と前記接触幅とに基づいて衝突物体の剛性を算出することを特徴とする車両用衝突物体判別装置。 - 請求項1乃至5のいずれか記載の車両用衝突物体判別装置において、
前記衝突荷重センサは、
車両のバンパリーンフォースの前面にその長手方向へ設置されていることを特徴とする車両用衝突物体判別装置。 - 請求項1乃至6のいずれか記載の車両用衝突物体判別装置において、
前記衝突荷重センサは、
車両のバンパリーンフォースとサイドメンバとの間に設置されていることを特徴とする車両用衝突物体判別装置。 - 請求項5記載の車両用衝突物体判別装置において、
前記幅センサは、
車両のバンパカバーの表面に長手方向へ設置されていることを特徴とする車両用衝突物体判別装置。 - 請求項5記載の車両用衝突物体判別装置において、
前記幅センサは、
車両のバンパカバーとアブソーバとの間に長手方向へ設置されていることを特徴とする衝突物体判別装置。
