Abstract
【解決手段】少なくとも一方の基板が透明である第一の基板および第二の基板と、第一の基板と第二の基板との間に配置された液晶層と、第一の基板および第二の基板の少なくとも一方の基板に形成され、液晶層に電界を印加するための電極群と、電極群に接続された複数のアクティブ素子と、第一の基板および第二の基板の少なくとも一方の基板に配置された配向膜と、を含む液晶表示装置において、配向膜はジアミンおよび酸無水物を用いて形成された、ポリイミドおよびポリイミドの前駆体を含み、ジアミンは、少なくとも一つの酸性基を有する第一のジアミンと、2つのアミノ基の他に、窒素原子含有官能基を少なくとも一つ有する第二のジアミンと、を含むことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。

Description
(1)配向制御膜の塗膜・形成(表示領域全面にわたり均一な塗膜を形成する)
(2)配向制御膜のイミド化焼成(ワニス溶剤の除去と耐熱性の高いポリイミド化を促進する)
(3)偏光照射による液晶配向能付与(表示領域に均一な配向能を付与する)
(4)(加熱、赤外線照射、遠赤外線照射、電子線照射、放射線照射)による配向能の促進・安定化
(a)上記(3)(4)を時間的に重なるように処理することにより液晶配向能付与を加速し架橋反応などを誘起することで、更に効果的に配向制御膜を形成することが可能となる。
(b)上記(4)の加熱、赤外線照射、遠赤外線照射などを用いる場合には、上記(2)(3)(4)を時間的にオーバーラップさせることにより、上記(4)のプロセスが上記(2)のイミド化プロセスを兼ねることも可能となり、短時間に配向制御膜の形成が可能となる。
Claims (14)
- 少なくとも一方の基板が透明である第一の基板および第二の基板と、前記第一の基板と前記第二の基板との間に配置された液晶層と、前記第一の基板および前記第二の基板の少なくとも一方の基板に形成され、前記液晶層に電界を印加するための電極群と、前記電極群に接続された複数のアクティブ素子と、前記第一の基板および前記第二の基板の少なくとも一方の基板に配置された配向膜と、を含む液晶表示装置において、
前記配向膜はジアミンおよび酸無水物を用いて形成された、ポリイミドおよび前記ポリイミドの前駆体を含み、
前記ジアミンは、少なくとも一つの酸性基を有する第一のジアミンと、2つのアミノ基の他に、窒素原子含有官能基を少なくとも一つ有する第二のジアミンと、を含む、
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記第一のジアミンは、前記酸性基としてカルボン酸基、スルホン酸基、リン酸基およびホスホン酸基から選択される少なくとも一つの官能基を含む、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記窒素原子含有官能基は、塩基性基である、
ことを特徴とする請求項1または2いずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記配向膜を構成するポリイミドおよび前記ポリイミドの前駆体に含まれる、前記第一のジアミンに基づく前記酸性基の数に対する、前記窒素原子含有官能基に基づく窒素原子の数との比は、0.25〜4.0である、
ことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記ポリイミドおよび前記ポリイミドの前駆体の形成に用いられる前記ジアミンにおける、前記第一のジアミンの含有率と、前記第二のジアミンの含有率と、の合計は、30モル%以上である、
ことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記ポリイミドおよび前記ポリイミドの前駆体の形成に用いられる前記酸無水物は、脂肪族酸二無水物を50モル%以上含む、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記配向膜の透過率Y値は、98.0%以上である、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記配向膜は、偏光紫外線を照射することにより液晶配向能を付与されている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記ポリイミドの前駆体は、ポリアミド酸エステルおよびポリアミド酸を含む、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記ポリアミド酸エステルは、シクロブタンテトラカルボン酸二無水物誘導体および芳香族ジアミンを用いて形成される、
ことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の液晶表示装置。 - ジアミンおよび酸無水物を用いて形成された、ポリイミドおよび前記ポリイミドの前駆体を含む配向膜であって、
前記ジアミンは、少なくとも一つの酸性基を有する第一のジアミンと、2つのアミノ基の他に、窒素原子含有官能基を少なくとも一つ有する第二のジアミンと、を含む、
ことを特徴とする配向膜。 - ポリイミドおよび前記ポリイミドの前駆体を含む配向膜を形成するための、配向膜形成用組成物であって、少なくとも一つの酸性基を有する第一のジアミンと、2つのアミノ基の他に、窒素原子含有官能基を少なくとも一つ有する第二のジアミンと、酸無水物と、を含有する、ことを特徴とする配向膜形成用組成物。
- 前記ポリイミドの前駆体は、ポリアミド酸エステルであり、前記ポリアミド酸エステルは、シクロブタンテトラカルボン酸二無水物誘導体を用いて形成される、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載の液晶表示装置。
