Abstract
【解決手段】有機ELパネル7には、マトリクス状に配置された各画素が設けられている。フレームメモリ4には、画素毎のデータを1フレーム分記憶される。サブフレームタイミング生成回路2は、モード設定バスの信号によって、サブフレーム数を決定し、決定されたサブフレーム数で、フレームメモリ4からのデータの読み出しタイミングを制御する。そこで、決定されたサブフレームに応じた表示が有機ELパネル7において行われる。

Description
本発明は、マトリクス状に配置された各画素に自発光素子および自発光素子の発光を制御する素子を有するアクティブマトリクス型表示装置に関する。
Claims (4)
- マトリクス状に配置された各画素に各画素の表示を制御する素子を有するアクティブマトリクス型表示装置において、
画素毎のデータを1フレーム分記憶するフレームメモリと、
このフレームメモリからの読み出しタイミングを制御するサブフレームタイミング生成回路と、
フレームメモリから出力されたデータに応じた表示を行う表示部と、
を含み、
前記サブフレームタイミング生成回路は、1フレームに何回のデータ表示を行うかについてのサブフレーム数が異なる複数の読み出しタイミングのパターンを用意しており、モード設定信号に応じて決定されたサブフレーム数の読み出しタイミングで、前記フレームメモリからデータの読み出すことを特徴とするアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置において、
前記サブフレーム数としては、少なくとも1フレームに1サブフレームの場合と、1フレームに複数サブフレームの場合があることを特徴とするアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 請求項1または2に記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置において、
前記表示部の各画素には、少なくとも1ビットのスタティックメモリが設けられ、表示の変更の必要がない領域については、該当する画素のデータの書き換えを行わないことを特徴とするアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 請求項1〜3のいずれか1つに記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置において、
前記表示部の各画素には、有機EL素子が設けられていることを特徴とするアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。
