Abstract
Description
本発明は、シリコーンガム、シリコーンゴム、シリコーンエラストマー、及び特にシリコーン樹脂を乳化するのに有効な方法を提供する。これは、(i)シリコーン油中水型(W/O)エマルジョンを反転させること、及びごく少量、すなわち油相中のシリコーンの重量に基づいて、約0.5〜10重量パーセント、好ましくは約1〜5重量パーセントの水を用いて、水中シリコーン油型(O/W)エマルジョンを形成させること、(ii)少なくとも15、好ましくは少なくとも30、より好ましくは30〜60の長さ対直径(L/D)比を有する二軸スクリュー押出機を用いて、反転中に超高剪断を適用すること、並びに(iii)乳化される、シリコーンガム、シリコーンゴム、シリコーンエラストマー又はシリコーン樹脂中に存在する溶媒以外の溶媒を添加せずに、反転を行うことにより達成される。
約100,000,000センチストーク(mm2/s)の粘度を有するシリコーンガムを二軸スクリュー押出機へ送り込むことにより、かかる高粘度シリコーンガムを乳化した。シリコーンガムは、約0.14パーセントのフェニルメチルシロキサン単位を含有するジメチルビニルシロキシ末端ポリジメチルシロキサンであった。シリコーンガムは、米国材料試験協会(ASTM)試験手順D−926に記載される試験プロトコルに基づいて、約55〜65ミルの可塑度を示した。Tergitol 15−S−5及びTergitol 15−S−40非イオン性界面活性剤をシリコーンガムに添加して、混合した。このプレミックスに少量の水(水1)を添加して、反転が起き、適切な粒径が得られるまで、プレミックス中の構成成分を混合した。二軸スクリュー押出機の出口端部で超高固形分シリコーンO/Wエマルジョンを水(水2)で希釈することにより、得られた超高固形分(ultra-high solid)シリコーンO/Wエマルジョンの固形分含有量を調節した。プロセスパラメータを表1に示す。表1におけるセクション番号に関する言及は、材料を導入することができる入口が備えられている二軸スクリュー押出機のバレルの長さ方向に沿った添加位置を指す。セクションは、二軸スクリュー押出機の入口端部からのミリメートルで表す距離によりさらに特定される。実験2における水1(星印により表示)は、セクション3というより350mmにおけるセクション4に導入された。
約10億センチストーク(mm2/s)、すなわち1,000,000,000センチストーク(mm2/s)の粘度を有するシリコーン樹脂を二軸スクリュー押出機へ送り込むことにより、かかる高粘度シリコーン樹脂を乳化した。シリコーン樹脂は、単官能性(CH3)3SiO1/2M単位及び四官能性SiO4/2Q単位から本質的に成るシロキサン樹脂コポリマーの70重量パーセントキシレン溶液の形態であった。MQ単位は、およそ0.75:1のモル比でシリコーン樹脂中に存在していた。シリコーン樹脂は、固形分の重量に基づいて、約2.4〜2.9重量パーセントのヒドロキシル官能性を含有していた。これは、米国材料試験協会(ASTM)試験手順E−168に記載される試験プロトコルに従ったフーリエ変換赤外分光法(FTIR)分析により決定された。二軸スクリュー押出機を60℃に加熱した。Brij 30非イオン性界面活性剤及びBio−Soft N−300陰イオン性界面活性剤をシリコーン樹脂に添加して、混合した。このプレミックスに少量の水(水1)を添加して、反転が起き、適切な粒径が得られるまで、プレミックスを混合した。二軸スクリュー押出機の出口端部で超高固形分シリコーンO/Wエマルジョンを水(水2)で希釈することにより、得られた超高固形分シリコーンO/Wエマルジョンの固形分含有量を調節した。プロセスパラメータを表2に示す。表2におけるセクション番号に関する言及は、材料を導入することができる入口が備えられている二軸スクリュー押出機のバレルの長さ方向に沿った添加位置を指す。
米国特許第5,654,362号(1997年8月5日)に記載される方法により調製されるシリコーンエラストマーを二軸スクリュー押出機へ送り込むことにより、かかるシリコーンエラストマーを乳化した。二軸スクリュー押出機を30℃に加熱した。Tergitol 15−S−12非イオン性界面活性剤をシリコーンエラストマーに添加して、混合した。このプレミックスに少量の水(水1)を添加して、反転が起き、適切な粒径が得られるまで、プレミックスを混合した。二軸スクリュー押出機の出口端部で超高固形分シリコーンO/Wエマルジョンを水(水2)で希釈することにより、得られたシリコーンO/Wエマルジョンの固形分含有量を調節した。プロセスパラメータを表3に示す。表3におけるセクション番号に関する言及は、材料を導入することができる入口が備えられている二軸スクリュー押出機のバレルの長さ方向に沿った添加位置を指す。
Claims (8)
- (i)シリコーンガム、シリコーンゴム、シリコーンエラストマー、シリコーン樹脂又はそれらの混合物を含有する均質油相を形成する工程(前記均質油相中の前記シリコーンは、少なくとも100,000,000(1億)センチストーク(mm2/s)〜5,000,000,000(50億)センチストーク(mm2/s)の粘度を有する)と、
(ii)1つ以上の界面活性剤を前記均質油相と混合する工程と、
(iii)前記均質油相に水を添加して、連続相及び分散相を含有する油中水型エマルジョンを形成する工程(前記水は、前記均質油相中の前記シリコーンの重量に基づいて、約0.5〜10重量パーセントの量で添加される)と、
(iv)少なくとも15の長さ対直径L/D比を有する二軸スクリュー押出機において前記油中水型エマルジョンに高剪断を適用して、前記油中水型エマルジョンを水中油型エマルジョンに反転させる工程と、
(v)水の添加により、前記水中油型エマルジョンを希釈する工程と
を含む水中シリコーン油型エマルジョンの製造方法であって、(i)における前記シリコーンガム、シリコーンゴム、シリコーンエラストマー又はシリコーン樹脂中に存在する溶媒以外の溶媒の非存在下で行われる水中シリコーン油型エマルジョンの製造方法。 - 前記均質油相中の前記シリコーンが、少なくとも200,000,000(2億)センチストーク(mm2/s)〜2,000,000,000(20億)センチストーク(mm2/s)の粘度を有する請求項1に記載の水中シリコーン油型エマルジョンの製造方法。
- 前記均質油相中の前記シリコーンが、少なくとも1,000,000,000(10億)センチストーク(mm2/s)の粘度を有する請求項1に記載の水中シリコーン油型エマルジョンの製造方法。
- 前記均質油相中の前記シリコーンが、シリコーン樹脂である請求項1に記載の水中シリコーン油型エマルジョンの製造方法。
- 前記(iii)において添加される水の量が、前記均質油相中の前記シリコーンの重量に基づいて、約1〜5重量パーセントである請求項1に記載の水中シリコーン油型エマルジョンの製造方法。
- 前記二軸スクリュー押出機の前記L/D比が、15〜60である請求項1に記載の水中シリコーン油型エマルジョンの製造方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法により製造された水中シリコーン油型エマルジョン。
- 製造された前記水中シリコーン油型エマルジョンを含有する、パーソナルケア製品、医療製品、コーティング製品、家庭用ケア製品又は紙への塗布用製品。
