Abstract

986,740. Engine construction. KABUSHIKI KAISHA HONDA GIJUTSU KENKYUSHO. Oct. 23, 1963 [Oct. 24, 1962], No. 41913/63. Heading F1B. [Also in Division B7] A portable engine comprises an elongated casing 2 containing the cylinder 9 and crankcase 10, the opposite ends of the crankshaft carrying a cooling air fan 12 and dynamo rotor 16, the casing having cooling air inlets and outlets 15, 49, 50, and a fuel tank 4 attached to the top. The rotor 16 also carries blades 22 and the interior of the casing is partly divided by a heat insulating plate 29 which separates the cylinder 9 from a compartment 28 in which are situated the carburetter 30 and induction coil 34. The fan 12 cools the cylinder 9 and fan 22 cools the carburetter and induction coil. The casing 2 is provided with feet 54 and an insulating plate 52 space from the casing bottom 33. The engine exhausts into a silencer 43 covered by an insulating plate 42, which silencer exhausts through an opening 45. The silencer is cooled by air from the fan 12.
