1448389 Cooling IC engines; axial flow fans SOC GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES ET MECANIQUES ALSTHOM 23 Jan 1974 [30 Jan 1973 1 03235/74 Headings F1B, F1C An IC engine in a sound absorbent cowling (not shown) comprises a first axial air impeller 13 for supplying an air-flow around the engine within said cowling and a coaxial second air impeller 10 for supplying an air-flow around only the cylinders and cylinder block, all of the air passing through the impeller 13 but only part of it passing through the impeller 10. Some of the air supplied by the impeller 13 which does not pass through impeller 10 is used to cool an oil cooling radiator 2 and engine accessories (e.g. starter, fuel pump).
