Abstract

953,773. Automatic circuit breakers. FEDERAL PACIFIC ELECTRIC CO. April 25, 1962 [May 3, 1961], No. 15827/62. Heading H2B. In the circuit breaker of Specification 739,620 the operating handle 24 and the movable contact member 18 are each provided with projections 30, 50 respectively which interfere during automatic opening to arrest the handle in a central position indicating the tripped condition. To reset the breaker the handle 24 is first moved to the off position, the projection 30 driving the projection 50 out of its path and link 28 resetting the actuator 26; the handle is then moved to the on position in the normal manner. The projections 30, 50 do not interfere during manual operation and the central position of the handle 24 is thus unattainable. The handle 24 is provided with two sets of indicia 52, 54 visible in the extreme on and off positions but both obscured by the casing in the central tripped position. In a modification (Fig. 4) the invention is applied to the multipole circuit breaker of Specification 871,931.
