Abstract

1,046,530. Automatic circuit breakers. ELLENBERGER & POENSGEN G.m.b.H. July 7, 1964 [Oct. 26, 1963], No. 27957/64. Heading H2B. In a push-button operated trip-free circuitbreaker of the type in which a contact bridge 23 is, in the closing operation, first moved by the push-button until it engages with a latch 24 mounted on an overload responsive bimetal 25 and thereafter released into contact with a fixed contact 36, the lower end 13 of the push-button shaft pivotally carries a lever 14 which if the push-button is pulled from the housing engages with and releases the latch 24 to open the breaker. The contact bridge 23 is provided with side projections 40 which drive, with lost motion, a pair of slides mounted in grooves in the two-part housing and carrying cam surfaces 41, 42 arranged to operate normally open and normally closed signalling contacts respectively. The push-button 4 is held on its shaft 6 by a sleeve 7 which is visible only when the button is in the off position and is differently coloured to act as an indicator of the state of the breaker.
