Abstract
1,020,009. Automatic circuit-breakers. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. May 22, 1963 [May 28, 1962], No. 20390/63. Heading H2B. A multi-pole circuit-breaker 5 has currentlimiting fuses 133 arranged in a removable housing 131 (Fig. 3, not shown) and operatively connected with the common tripper bar 99 of the circuit-breaker so that the blowing of any fuse or the removal of the housing causes operation of the tripper bar to effect opening of the breaker, removal of the housing 131 causing a leaf spring 173 to engage an arm 181 of tripper bar 99 to reotate it, Fig. 1, (Fig. 2, not shown). The actuator 145 of each fuse 133 when blown moves an arm 151 to rotate a tripping bar 149, which bar has an arm 153 which in turn engages a second arm 155 on the common tripper bar 99 to operate the breaker. The breaker cannot be reset with a blown fuse therein. The plunger 145 of fuse 133 operates as in U.S.A. Specification 2,435,844. The breaker mechanism 14 is as in U.S.A. Specification 2,989,606.
