Abstract
929,899. Indicator lamps. NORTHERN ORDNANCE Inc. Feb. 28, 1961 [Oct. 27, 1960], No. 7339/61. Class 75 (4). [Also in Group XXXVIII] In an indicating device comprising a body of translucent or transparent material which has one or more pairs of electric lamps at one end thereof and which is so shaped that light from these lamps is directed through the body towards an observation area at the other end thereof, each of said pairs of lamps is of a different colour and the body is so made that light from each lamp of a pair pursues a different path through the body whereby each lamp of any pair can be selectively detected. The indicator comprises an upper body portion (Fig. 5) made of a plastics material which is cemented into the lower body 16, all the walls of the upper portion being painted with a white reflecting coat so that light is channelled into the boss 50 and may be observed through window 52 (Fig. 6). Provision is made for singlehole panel mounting by use of threaded bushing 18 of the lower body. The upper body is made in two halves 32 separated by an opaque vinyl partition 34, there being three brass-lined recesses 36 (Fig. 5) in the top'of each half. The recesses are ventilated through holes 48. A conducting plate 60 (Fig. 5) overlies the halves and is riveted (68) to them. By means of a pair of tabs 80 and a hinge-pin 82 an insulating terminal block 78 may be pivotally mounted on the plate 60, locking of the block being accomplished by the engagement of pins 102 with holes 98 in the resilient tab 100. C-shaped flat springs 88 are riveted to the block, the rivets also carrying screw-type terminals 92 (Fig. 6) so that bulbs 46 (Fig. 5) held in the recesses 36 by springs 44 may be operated in pairs, failure of one of the bulbs being indicated by the illumination of only half of the field of view seen in window 52. Coloured translucent discs 38 may be placed at the bottom of the recesses.
