Abstract

703,260. Fluorescent-lamp fittings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and PHILLIPS, L. E. A. Aug. 28, 1951 [Sept. 7, 1950], No. 22104/50, Class 75 (4) A fluorescent-lamp fitting has an elongated trough-section support member 10 with one or more fluorescent lamps 13 mounted on the outside thereof and one or more filament lamps 31 are mounted partly or wholly within the trough member 10 so that light from said filament lamps is prevented by the support member from mixing with light from the fluorescent lamps in some, but not all, directions. As shown ancillary equipment 30 is housed in the trough 10 which is suspended from a ceiling plate 14 by rods 15 and a troughbracing plate 16. The filament lamps 31 serve as ballast resistances and are arranged to direct light upwardly through glass windows 32 which may cover the open trough top, the interior of the trough being painted white to serve as a reflector. The fluorescent lamps 13, arranged one on each side of the trough 10, may be screened by a flexible translucent member. Specifications 703,255, [Group XXXV], and 703,258 are referred to.
