Abstract

706,592. Signalling lamps. BULGIN & CO., Ltd., A. F. Nov. 18, 1952 [Jan. 4, 1952], No. 359/52. Class 75 (4) A signalling or indicating lamp comprises a tubular housing 1 provided towards one end with two or more colourless electric bulbs 8, the light beams therefrom being separated from one another by opaque baffle plates 17 extending along the axis of the housing and forming light passages, one for each bulb and each closed at the end remote from the bulb by a colour filter 18, arranged so that the light from each diverges to illuminate the whole of a lens 5 closing the housing. The bulbs lie in a circle and the baffle plates extend radially from the axis of the housing to form sector shaped light passages. The bulbs are mounted in an insulating moulding 6 fitted into the end of the housing and project through openings in a plate 16 against which the baffle plates abut. One of the filters may be replaced by a colourless transparent sheet. The lens 5 may be plain or legended and colourless or white or translucent or coloured. The cross section of the housing may be of circular, oval, square or hexagonal shape. An automatic switching device may be connected to give a predetermined sequence of colours.
