Abstract

925,009. Rotary pumps. M. M. DUNKEL, [trading as E. LEYBOLD'S NACHFOLGER]. April 14, 1960 [April 18, 1959], No. 13409/60. Class 110 (2). An oil-sealed, rotary vacuum pump of the outwardly-sliding radial vane type, Fig. 6, is provided with a silencer consisting of adjustable inlet means for regulating the oil/air mixture being pumped. The inlet means comprises a stem 10 which has an air inlet port 12 and is screw-threaded into a socket 8 having a variable oil inlet port 11. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the silencer communicates with the bearing journal of the rotor which has two opposed scooping bores for drawing in a mixture of oil and air and discharging same to the working space of the pump. In a further modification, the air inlet 18, Fig. 4, communicates with a socket 8 having an oil inlet port 15 controlled by a threaded nut 14, 16 acting as a needle valve.
