897,568. Fire extinguishing. CAWOOD, E. E. C. Dec. 28, 1959 [Jan. 9, 1959], No. 822/59. Class 47. A dry fire extinguishing composition consists of a mixture by weight of 55-30 parts powdered potassium bicarbonate and 42-68 parts of a mixture the greater part of which is ammonium sulphate and at least one ninth of which is diammonium phosphate. Preferred ranges are 55-30 bicarbonate, 35-55 sulphate and 7-13 phosphate. Also 1-3% free flow promoting substances such as stearic acid or finely divided metal stearate and ¢-2¢% insoluble agents such as talc, soapstone or diatomaceous earth may be included. Specifications 783,656 and 868,993 are referred to.
