Abstract

886,336. Ceiling panel; ceilings. DUNLAP, A. H. May 27, 1960, No. 18837/60. Classes 20(4) and 87(1) A rectangular ceiling panel comprising a structural layer 10 and a two piece facing layer 12, is provided with flanges on its side edges, rabbets on its end edges, and a support receiving slot 16. The panels are supported at their ends by channel or T-section joists 20 having flanges 30, 28, and interlock at their sides by flanges 12d, 12c alternately on their upper and lower layers. Shims 14, or ribs integral with either layer may separate the layers 10, 12, or they may abut. The layer 10 may be of plaster or fibre &c. board and the layer 12 of expanded plastic or vermiculite aggregate. The joists 20 when of channel section may have a neck near the base of the channel and contain cement 34, the T-section girder having a flange at the base of the T. Perforations in the joists allow wire 35 to be used to connect or splice two joists. A lighting unit may be included in the ceiling.
