Abstract

771,598. Securing ceiling, or wall, panels. ATKINSON & SON, Ltd.,. J. June 29, 1954 [Feb. 3, 1954], No. 3161/54. Class 20(4) A method of securing lightweight wall, or ceiling, panels 1 made e.g. of asbestos, or asbestos cement, comprises securing clips 4, by means of self tapping screws 3, adjacent a pair of opposite edges of each panel each of which is first clipped along one edge to a flange 8 of a fixed girder 9, the other edge being clipped to the next girder 9 when it is offered up as the construction of the wall, or ceiling, proceeds. Side closure panels 1b are secured in the same manner between a girder 9 and an angle iron 10, each end closure member 1a having along one edge a cover strip 11 to engage the edge of an adjoining panel, the opposite edge being screwed from beneath, to an angle trim 12. Notches 8a, 10a in the girders 9 are spaced to register with the clips 4 so that by removing an end closure the panels can be slid along and dismantled from their supporting flanges.
