Abstract

863,195. Joint-making packing. STRABAG BAUA.G. April 20, 1959 [April 19, 1958], No. 13441/59. Class 122 (3). [Also in Group XXVIII] A device for sealing an aperture in a wall or ceiling 1 through which a pipe 2 passes employs a rubber-like bituminous mastic introduced into the annular space between the pipe and the aperture and contained on both sides by resiliently yielding members 4. As shown, the collars 4 of oil-resistant rubber are clamped to the wall by annular rings 5 of metal and are pressed against the pipe by spiral springs 7 spaced apart by members 8. The aperture is lined by a tube 9 having flanges 9a and a packing of mortar 10 is disposed between the aperture and the tube; alternatively, the tube is in a number of parts and fitted into a prepared aperture. In a modification, filling and air outlet passages are formed in the wall and the mastic is introduced under pressure into the annular space.
