841,477. Air-break switches; actuation of switches; arc-rupturing in switches. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 22, 1956 [Oct. 27, 1955], No. 30747/55. Drawings to Specification Class 38 (5). An air-break circuit-breaker with main and arcing contact pairs in parallel and actuated by a common mechanism, has positive locking means to prevent opening movement of the movable arcing contact which is released when the main contacts reach a predetermined separation, the mechanism being arranged so that during closing the arcing contacts engage at a second smaller predetermined separation of the main contacts. The invention is described in its application to the circuit-breaker of Specification 841,472, the drawing being identical with that of the latter.
