Constant-mesh change-speed gearing, comprising an input shaft a driving through gears b, c to a countershaft d fast on which are gears meshing gears m, j, k, i selectively clutched to an output shaft n to give four reduced ratios and a direct drive clutch v between the shafts a, n, has a reverse idler double gear p, r freely supported upon a shaft q, the smaller diameter portion r of the idler meshing a gear s clutched to the output shaft for reverse, sliding a positive clutch sleeve y rightwards of the Figure connecting the double gear p, r to the shaft q which can then be used as a power take-off shaft. By sliding the positive clutch sleeve y leftwards, a free gear z, meshing the gear j driven from the countershaft d, is coupled to the power take-off shaft q which is then rotated in the opposite direction.
