Abstract

807,708. Seats. SCHLIEPHACKE, F. F. June 7, 1957 [June 8, 1956], No. 18188/57. Class 52(2) A reclining chair has a foot-rest connected to a tiltable seat and back by a linkage which includes a pair of crossed links 44, 48 (Fig. 2), pivoted together, one crossed link 44 being pivoted to the front end of the seat and the other, 48 to an operating lever 54 which is pivoted at an intermediate point 55 to the seat and which is connected to the seat and back so that the operating lever is moved when the seat is tilted. As shown in Fig. 2 the operating lever 54 is curved and the shorter arm 56 is connected to a drive link 60 pivoted to a plate 26 pivoted at 28 to the chair frame and connected to the back and seat by links 24, 30 respectively. The plate 26 may be replaced by a T-member, the arms connected by links to the seat and back and the foot of the T to the drive link 60. As shown in Fig. 10, the seat and back form a unit which tilts as a link 120 pivoted to the seat at 130 and a lever 122, the free end of which is linked to a lever 126, pivoted at 130 to the seat, to which is pivoted the drive rod 96a.
