Abstract
789,682. Centrifugal blowers and exhausters. PARSONS, B. May 8, 1956 [May 23, 1955], No. 14842/55. Class 110 (1). In a rotary blower or exhauster for conveying or lifting solid materials, the casing is provided with a central inlet and a peripheral inlet through either of which the intake of solid material can take place, and with a passage wherein solid material entering by either inlet is exposed to the full discharge of air from the impeller to be ejected thereby through a delivery shoot. A blower for conveying solid materials, such as grain, manure and sawdust, comprises a peripheral inlet e in addition to the usual central inlet (not shown). Air is drawn in through the central inlet and the solid material can be fed into either inlet by, it may be, a worm conveyer. A curved baffle i prevents material in the delivery shoot h from falling back into the impeller b. Material entering through the inlet e is kept from contact with the impeller b by an adjustably pivoted curved baffle f, or louvres, or both. Any accumulation of material in the inlet e may be broken up by admitting compressed air at l by way of a pipe j connected to the blower casing at a point k near the delivery shoot h.
