Abstract
1356650 Pneumatic conveyers S HIRANO and S NODA 23 Dec 1971 60028/71 Heading B8A [Also in Division B1] Particulate material conveyed along a conduit 41 by the suction created by a fan 19 within a housing 2 is separated from the transporting air upstream of the inlet of the fan by a screen 33 forming part of a by-pass tube 24 and is conveyed through said tube 24 by an auger 27 to be discharged into a tube 11 downstream of the outlet of the fan and be conveyed therealong by the air from said outlet. The discharge end of the by-pass tube 24 is closed by a valve 34 to prevent air recirculating through the by-pass tube, the valve being opened by the build-up of material therebehind. In an alternative embodiment Fig. 3 (not shown) the fan is replaced by a two stage fan. In a further embodiment Fig. 7 (not shown), a chamber (69) connected at opposite ends to a supply tube (70) and a discharge tube (71) has a by-pass tube (72) mounted concentrically therein and a fan (75) mounted in the annular space between the bypass tube and the chamber. A conically shaped screen (74) extends between the chamber walls and the by-pass tube downstream of the fan and a helical wire (82) is mounted on a shaft (80) to rotate therein. An auger (81) is also provided on the shaft (80) to rotate within the by-pass tube and a valve (83) is mounted to be movable along the shaft to close the end of the said tube.
