Abstract

777,870. Stud and socket fasteners. FRANKENSTEIN & SONS (MANCHESTER), Ltd., P., and OLDHAM, W. Sept. 26, 1955 [Dec. 23, 1954], No. 37127/54. Class 44. In a snap fastener on which a socket member K is provided for resilient engagement with the neck or waist O of a coacting stud member E, the socket member, at least, is moulded as a nylon annulus adapted to be riveted to the associated fabric or other base material by metallic or other means engaging its central aperture L. As shown, the stud member is also moulded of nylon and has a central aperture F and both are attached to sheets of material B1, B2 by means of flanged metal eyelets A, C which pass through the apertures F, L and are riveted over to secure the stud and socket in place. The aperture F in the stud is enlarged as indicated at G to accommodate the riveted-over end H of the eyelet A. The flanged end of the eyelet C is covered by a sheet metal cap D. In a modification the eyelets A and C are replaced by moulded studs the shanks of which after passing through the sheets of material B1, B2 are bonded to the stud and socket respectively.
