Abstract
777,601. Strap fastenings. PRITCHARD, F. J. Oct. 19, 1955 [Oct. 29, 1954], No. 31367/54. Class 44. [Also in Group VII] An adjustable clasp or fastener for wristwatch straps, of the kind comprising two curved plate members 1, 2 hinged together at 3 and adapted to fold down, one on to the other, has one plate member, preferably the lower or inner, provided with a fixed hook, stud or the like 8 adapted to be engaged selectively by any one of a longitudinal series of holes or slits in one end portion of the strap, the hook, stud, or the like 8 being directed inwardly of the space between the plates when closed together and adapted also to form a resilient catch with an abutment 10 on the other plate. In the example a tongue 10 punched out from the metal near the outer end of the plate 1 is shaped to interengage with the rear surface of a hook 8 punched out from a corresponding position in the plate 2. Alternatively the tongue and hook may be located at an intermediate position in their respective plates. Marginal flanges 7 impart rigidity to the plate 1 and engage with adjacent, somewhat deeper, flanges 6 on the plate 2.
