Abstract

855,207. Buttons. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Sept. 6, 1957 [Sept. 28, 1956], No. 28273/57. Class 43 [Also in Group XXV] An assembly comprises a sheet of waterproof material 12, Fig. 5, and one or more studs 10, the or each stud being formed of resilient syntheticplastic material and comprising a base 24 having a post 18 extending integrally from one face, the post having an integral enlarged head 20 at its outer end, the stud being secured to the sheet by an attaching element 14 including a shank 25 which extends through the sheet and an axial aperture 21 in the stud, the element having a base 26 abutting the face of the sheet remote from the stud and the outer end of the shank being flanged outwardly within the aperture in the head to secure the stud to the sheet. Fig. 1 shows a boot 16 having a pair of studs assembled on each of the two edge portions of the boot opening and a pair of straps 30, each of the latter being secured over the head of a stud on one side of the opening and having slots 34 and 36 one of which is engageable with the opposite stud to secure the two edge portions together.
