Abstract

752,898. Hooks and eyes. HOOK-FLEX CORPORATION. Jan. 26, 1954 [March 19, 1953], No. 2331/54. Class 43. A staple-type eye unit for use in conjunction with a hook as a fastener, e.g. for the waistband of trousers, comprises an elongated bar 23 which is concaved on its underside to provide a longitudinal channel throughout the greater portion of its length and terminates at each end in a substantially perpendicular material-penetrating prong 26 provided with a shoulder 29 which determines the extent of penetration, a backing-plate 30 which is positioned behind the material being provided with apertures 31 for the passage of the prongs and formed with longitudinal edge channels 32 which together form a longitudinal channel on the underside of the backing-plate for receiving the ends of the prongs when the latter are bent inwardly to clinch the bar and backing-plate together with part of the material of the garment clamped between them.
