Classes 43 and 89(3) In order to locate the hook plate 2 of a trouser waistband on the anvil of a press during the operation of attaching the hook to the band and to a back plate by the swedging or clenching over of prongs after passing through the band material and the nook plate or back plate, the anvil of the press is provided with a plurality of projections or recesses, adapted to cooperate with a part of the hook plate to locate the latter prior to the swedging or clenching over of the prongs. The press is similar to that described in the parent Specification, having a recess formed in the edge of the anvil and adapted to receive the hook but with a single recess 21, Fig. 8, provided in the anvil 14 to receive a projection 20 on the hook plate 2. As shown in Fig. 2, the hook plate 2 is provided with notches 8 on each side which co-operate with projections or studs 17 on the anvil. In addition a single hole in the plate to co-operate with a peg 16 on the anvil may be provided. A plurality of holes in the hook plate may be provided to co-operate with studs or projections on the anvil or vice versa. A notch or rest extension 19, Fig. 6, may be provided at the end of the slot 4 in the hook plate opposite the hook and adapted to cooperate with a projection 16 on the anvil. The prongs may be provided on the hook plate to pass through correspondingly located holes on the back plate, the recesses for bending over the prongs being then provided in the block on the lever of the press.
