Abstract
622,990. Buttons. BLAIR, J. May 13, 1947, No. 12835. [Class 43] An ornament of metal, wood, plastic, or other material, for removably attaching to a button 1 already sewn to a garment, comprises a head 4 having on its rear side a recess 4a for the bunch of thread 4b formed in sewing on the button, and also two spaced-apart shanks 5 which are pushed through the thread holes 2 in the button and then bent to lie against the back of the button. The portions of the shanks lying in the holes 2 are preferably of circular cross-section to reduce wear on the thread, the ends 6 which lie against the back of the button being flattened to avoid pushing the button away from the material 3. The shanks 5 may be formed from wire bent to U-shape and soldered at 7 to the interior of the head 4 ; alternatively if the head is made from plastic the shanks may be embedded therein during manufacture of the head. Two pairs of shanks may be provided for use with a four-holed button.
