Abstract

745,670. Agricultural implements. MIDLAND INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 23, 1953 [May 1, 1953], No. 12051/53. Class 6 (1). In a reciprocating cultivator comprising a pair of reciprocating transversely extending tine-carrying bars 14, 15 connected by levers 17 which are pivoted on a frame 10, the forward tine bar 14 is provided with auxiliary tines 28 adapted to co-operate with main tines 26 on the rear tine-bar 15. The front bar 14 is provided with main tines 25 and the tines are secured on the bars 14, 15 by clamps as described in Specification 745,671. The bars 14, 15 are reciprocated in opposite directions and are driven from the tractor power take-off shaft by means of a crank 21 and connecting-rod 20, the drive preferably including an overload clutch with which may be incorporated a fly-wheel. The frame 10 is provided with a pair of adjustable ground wheels 11 for controlling the depth of penetration of the main tines into the soil. The auxiliary tines 28 are shorter than the tines 26 to deal with clods passed by the front tines 25. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 628,789.
