Abstract

665,719. Agricultural implements. HORSTMANN, Ltd. Sept. 14, 1949. No. 23712/49. Class 6(i). A reciprocating cultivator comprises a trailer mounted on two castor wheels 5 and pivoted by a pin 4 to a tractor so that the machine may swing laterally with respect to the tractor. The reciprocating tines 11 are mounted on beams 9, 10 pivoted on levers 8 which are pivotally mounted on the frame of the machine. The beams 9, 10 are reciprocated by a mechanism 12 driven through universal couplings 14, 15 from the tractor power take-off shaft. Stop means are provided on the tractor to limit the transverse movement of the machine when turning. The castor wheels are adjusted by handles 7 to vary the working depth of the cultivators and the wheels may be coupled by a rod to obtain a more stable castor action. The mechanism 12 may be of the form described in Specification 657,649.
