Abstract
The invention comprises dyestuffs of formula <FORM:0745082/IV(c)/1> where one X is a sulphonic acid group and the other X's are H. They are made by coupling tetrazotized 4, 41-diamino-3, 31-dimethoxy- or -diethoxy-diphenyl with 1-naphthol-3, 6-, -3, 7- or -3, 8-disulphonic acid and 2-(31-sulphophenylamino) -5-naphthol -7- sulphonic acid under alkaline conditions and treating the products so obtained with copper-yielding agents such as an ammoniacal solution of a copper salt in the presence of an organic base. The dyestuffs dye cellulosic fibres in blue shades. Examples are provided of the preparation of all three dyestuffs the first coupling taking place in sodium carbonate solution and the second, when the amine is added in that solution optionally with the addition of ammonium hydroxide and pyridine.
