Abstract
The invention comprises the manufacture of disazo dyestuffs containing copper by coupling 1 mol. of the tetrazo compound of a 4:41-diamino-3:31-dialkoxydiphenyl with, in either order, 1 mol. of 1-hydroxynaphthalene-3:6- or -3:7-disulphonic acid and 1 mol. of a nitrogen-free hydroxynaphthalenemonosulphonic acid, and treating the resulting disazo dyestuff with an agent yielding copper, and the dyestuffs so obtainable. The products dye cotton, rayon and polyamide fibres blue shades from a Glauber's salt bath. In examples: (1) tetrazotized dianisidine is coupled with an equimolecular proportion of 1-hydroxynaphthalene-3:6- or -3:7-disulphonic acid and of 1-hydroxynaphthalene-5- or -4-sulphonic acid or 2-hydroxynaphthalene-7- or -6-sulphonic acid, and the products are heated with aqueous ammoniacal copper sulphate solution; (2) the dyestuff 1-hydroxynaphthalene-3:6-disulphonic acid \sM dianisidine --> 2-hydroxynaphthalene-4-sulphonic acid is coppered as in (1), or by working first in a weakly acid medium and then in an alkaline medium, or in the presence of cuprous salts or of organic bases.
