Abstract

720,788. Impact pulverizers. KOHLENSCHEIDUNGS-GES. March 6, 1953 [March 10, 1952]. No. 6229/53. Class 59. In a centrifugal mill provided with a horizontal impact wheel shaft and an axial inlet 19 for an air blast and the material to be ground, particularly for the coal-dust firing of steam boilers or heaters in power plants, the impact wheel is mounted on the hub 7 of the driven shaft 8 of reduction gearing. The shaft 8 is driven, by means of spur gears 10, 11, from the driving shaft 12 which is connected through an overload clutch 16 to an electric motor 17. The shafts 8, 12 are disposed in the same vertical plane. The impact wheel comprises a full disc 4, blades 5, and an annular disc 6. The spur gears, shafts and their bearings are mounted in a common housing 14. The spur gears may be replaced by infinitely variable reduction gearing. The mill door 18 is hinged so as to open downwardly and the back of the mill housing is provided with a removable cover 21, the arrangement being such that when the cover 21 is removed and the door 18 opened, the impact wheel and reduction gearing can be removed together or successively through the mill housing.
