[Also in Group XXX] A pulverizing mill comprises a rotor having groups of paddle blades 34 separated by discs 33, a casing 12 having an internal surface provided with vertical ribs 35 surrounding the outer edges of the paddle blades, a fan impeller 15 having an inlet 19 for air and for material to be comminuted, a fan casing 13 having a peripheral outlet connected by a conduit 26 to the inlet of the rotor casing, and an electric motor 14 for driving the fan shaft and, through gearing or a belt drive, for driving the rotor shaft at a higher speed than the fan shaft. The discs 33 may have their edges notched and formed to constitute fan blades which tend to drive material being pulverized back toward the inlet of the rotor casing. The rotor casing is provided with a shelf 39 having a central opening 40 for fine material which is discharged through an outlet 42 by means of a fan impeller 44. Insufficiently pulverized material is discharged through a peripheral outlet 145 and returns via a return conduit 46 to the inlet fan. The inlet of the fan casing has thereabove an inlet hopper 20 provided with manually adjustable angular plates 47, 48. The rotor casing may be surrounded by a water jacket 27.
