406,782. Disc mills. STURTEVANT ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and WILLIAMS, F. W. R., 147, Queen Victoria Street, London. Oct. 4, 1932, No. 27539. [Class 59.] A grinding mill comprises a stationary disc H<1> against which operates a revolving disc H supported by one or more disc or leaf springs M, M<1>, M<2> bolted to a flange on a driving shaft K mounted on bearings a<1>, a<2> on a bedplate A which also provides a casing a<3> for the discs. The disc H is adjustable axially by a thrust screw f bearing on the end of the shaft K, while the disc H<1> is bolted to an end cover B mounted by a screw device g on a yoke C hinged at one end and detachably fastened at its other end to the casing, the cover B and therefore the disc H<1> being adjustable axially by the screw device g<2>. Material to be ground is delivered to a groove h<2> between the discs through a hopper B in the cover B, an outlet a<4> leading into a removable sampling container E being provided for the ground material. The shaft K may be driven through fast and loose pulleys L or other devices. A housing for the grinding medium and its carrier may be provided at the end of the bedplate.
