Abstract

714,610. Fuel-injection pumps. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. Dec. 10, 1951 [Dec. 8, 1950], No. 28938/51. Class 102, (1). [Also in Group XXVII] In a fuel injection unit comprising a coaxially arranged pump 14 and injector nozzle 17, the communication between the pump chamber 39 and a nozzle passage or space 40 controlled by a nozzle valve 43 is controlled by a spring plate 56 abutting against the end wall of the pump chamber. The pump body 10 has an extension 18 with fuel connections 19, 20, Fig. 2, leading to fuel delivery and return passages 25, 26, formed in the cylinder 13 and connected to the pump suction and spill ports 27, 28. The return passage 26 is also connected to the valve spring chamber 44 for removing the fuel leaking past the valve 43 where lift is limited by the valve spring abutment disc 15. The top edge 48 of the cylinder 13 is conical and engages a similarly shaped packing ring 47. A rivet 54 enters a slot 55 in the pump-actuating tappet 30 to prevent it falling out and also secures in position a flanged metal sheet 53 whose edges 51, 52, Fig. 2, are bent over to lock the screw connection nuts of the pipes 19, 20.
