660,562. Fuel-injection pumps. ZELEZNY, A. March 11, 1947 [March 11, 1946; March 25, 1946]. Nos. 6836/47 and 6837/47. Class 102 (i). In a fuel-injection pump, a valve 3 is located between the pumping space 2 and the injector and is formed with a flat end that covers a port 4 in the plate 5. The lower end of the valve is cylindrical and fits a cylindrical opening in the lower end of the valve casing 8. A high pressure has to be developed to lift the valve against the spring 6 which results in a high pressure wave being developed at low engine speeds. When closing, the reduction in pressure in the delivery 7 after the valve has entered the cylindrical portion of the casing prevents drip. A further ring of openings may be arranged in the plate 5, not covered by the valve and opening into an undercut portion of the casing 8 to permit free flow after the valve has opened. A spring may be interposed between a cam and the plunger so that the plunger is accelerated when the valve is opened. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the subject matter of Specifications 660,563 and 660,564. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
