Abstract

710,376. Control lever mechanism. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and TREVASKIS, H. W. Sept. 2, 1952 [Oct. 30, 1951], No. 25301/51. Class 136(1) [Also in Group XXXIII] A control mechanism comprises a control handle 1, a lever 2 pivotally mounted on the handle 1, a nipple 10 rotatably fitted in a hole in the lever, an operating wire cable 9 having one end secured to the nipple and passing through a hole in a lug 3 projecting from the control handle, and a guide arm 13 provided at one end with a slot 14 which fits over diametrically opposite flats on an extension 11 of the nipple and at the other end with an inturned portion 17 slidable in a slot 18 in the lug 3, the slot being parallel to the hole in the lug. The guide arm 13 is retained on the nipple 10 by a split pin 15 which passes through a hole 16 extending between the flats. The guide arm, the flats on the nipple and the slot 18 in the lug 3 are all in axial alignment with the adjacent end of the wire 9. On angular displacement of the lever 2 the cable 9 is tensioned and the nipple is rotated relative to the hole in the lever. The maximum angular motion of the lever may be varied by means of an adjustable stop 6.
