Abstract
585,536. Musical drums PEACOCK, C. H., and DRUMCRAFT, Ltd. Jan. 5, 1945, No. 471. [Class 88 (ii)] A drum snare 1 is movable into and out of the operating position by simultaneous movement of end mountings 6 effected through a common member 28 operable by the lever 31, without altering the tension of the snare, which is independently adjustable by the screw 11. The snare, which may be of any suitable form, has flexible tailpieces 2 which are gripped by the clamps 6, fitted to the carriers 8 by pivot pins 9. The carriers slide in channelled baseplates 12 fixed to the drum shell by studs 14 serving also as pivot pins for cylinders 23 housing springs 24 and bushes 15. The springs bear against plungers 25 pivotally connected by pins 26 to levers 27 fixed to a tube 28. Lugs 33 on the levers 27 engage sockets 34 (Fig. 2) in the carriers 8, so that movement of the lever 31 from position A to B moves the snare from the inoperative to the operative position, it being retained in position by springs 24.
