689,991. Ships' rudders. JONES, E. G. Nov. 28, 1951. [Nov. 29, 1950] No. 29242/50. Class 114. A ship's rudder has curved side plates 3, 4 attached to the main plate 1 to form waterways 5, 6, the shape of the side plates being such that the waterway 6 on the side of the main plate at which the propeller blades move upwards during rotation has its maximum width near the upper end thereof and the other waterway has its maximum width near the lower end thereof. The side plates are inclined to the plane of the main plate in the fore and aft direction so that the water aperture at the fore and aft end is narrower than at the aft end.
