766,093. Screw propellers. AKTIESELSKABET STROMMENS VAERKSTED. March 22, 1955 [March 27, 1954], No. 8249/55. Class 114. In a ship's propeller having replaceable blades the flanges for securing the blades to the boss of the propeller are so shaped that they cover the boss. Fig. 3 is a section on the line III-III of Fig. 1 of a four-bladed propeller, the position of one blade on its flange being indicated at 1. The four flanges 4, 5, 6, 7 of the blades are secured to the square section boss 2 by bolts 3 and each flange covers the adjacent side of the boss and projects it against the corrosive action of the sea water. The bolts 3 are grouped in those areas of the flanges where it is known that the largest forces will arise. A narrow slot 8 is arranged between adjacent flanges to permit a fine adjustment of the blades.
