Class 6(iii) Means for separating potatoes and other root crops from adhering earth comprises a component a fitted with two endless chains a<SP>1</SP> and a<SP>11</SP> across which extend transverse slats c of rubber. Potatoes are raised by shares e and are carried up a conveyer b comprising a series of interlocking rods. The component a travels in the same direction as, but at a greater speed than, the conveyer b and the rubber slats pass over the roots and squeeze off' encrusted dirt.
