Abstract

645,756. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Oct. 14, 1947, No. 27466. [Class 39 (i)] In a cathode tube of the kind in which a mosaic electrode is scanned by a beam which is deflected by coils 15, Fig. 1, to produce output signals, spurious signals caused by eddy currents induced by the coils in an electrode 8, providing a uniform field in the path of the beam, are reduced by the provision of gaps 11 in the electrode. In the form shown, the electrode 8 consists of an internal coating subdivided, for at least part of its length, into strips. In another form, the coating comprises axially spaced rings 19, Fig. 2, joined at one end to a strip 22, formed by an extension of the continuous part 9. The tube may comprise a focusing coil 13, alignment coils 14 and a retarding electrode coating 12.
