644,991. Tools; tool-holders. DESVERCHERE, V. J. Nov. 5, 1946, Nos. 32862, 32863 and 32864. Convention dates, Jan. 9, March 7, and March 7. [Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIII] An adjustable tool-holder for turret lathes &c. comprises a cutting-tool 10 which has a straight cutting-edge and which is guided on a carrier 4, the whole of one face of which is slidable against the vertical face of a support 1, so as to swing in an arc having its axis substantially parallel to, and in the immediate vicinity of, the edge of the tool. A tongue 5 on the carrier 4 slides in either of two grooves 3. The support 1 may be integral with, or adjustably attached to, a shank 2. The tool 10 may be gripped in a circular or square adaptor 12, Fig. 9, to allow angular adjustment about the tool axis. Alternatively, the shank 2 is cranked so that the holder may be adjusted about the tool axis. The holder may support the tool for grinding. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a tool-holder having a straight shank and a set of wedge-shaped carriers to adjust the angle of the tool, (see Fig. 20 (Cancelled)) ; and further comprises the use of a round-nosed tool, (see Fig. 2 (Cancelled)) This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
