Abstract

631,482. Boxes. THORNTON, A. A. (Palmer, Inc., F. D.). April 9, 1947, No. 9422. [Class 18] A carton for containing liquids has a dispensing aperture in an end wall covered by a hinged flap 9 formed from the uppermost of the end - closing extensions comprising the wall. The end-forming extensions are adhesively secured together with the exception of the part forming the flap 9. The carton is placed on a die and the flap 8 cut out and turned back to permit the aperture to be formed and a recess and spout 22 to be pressed in the underlying extensions. The aperture is closed by a plug 31 formed either from the removed material of the aperture or from a portion of an end closing extension at the base of the carton. The carton may be coated and sealed with paraffin wax. The plug 31 may be secured to the flap 9.
