Abstract

623,934. Weighting apparatus for the drafting mechanism of textile spinning &c. machines. HOWARD & BULLOUGH, Ltd., and WILSON, W. June 2, 1947, No. 14555. [Class 120 (ii)] In a textile drafting apparatus having a weight-' ing arrangement of the kind described, for example, in Specification 488,328, the saddle, 17, having a semi-circular bearing 18 by which it rests on the neck of the roller 8 and a flat undersurface 19 where it bears on the neck of the roller 5, is provided with two vertical slots 31 and 32 in its upper part transversely of the slot 29, so that the projecting extremities of the fulcrum pin 27 of the cam-shaped lever 28 may be received therein, thus providing alternative positions of the weighting link 24 to correspond with alternative spacing of the rollers. Three recesses 33, 34 and 35 are provided on the underside of the saddle 17, the first two are intended to receive a lug 36 which is constituted by a web-like part of the link 24 between the flanges 25 and 26 such that entry of the lug 36 into a recess serves to locate the link 24 in relation to the saddle 17. The recess 35 is shaped so that, the weight being released, the link 24 may be swung forward until the lug 36 enters the recess 35 when it will be possible to raise the cam lever 28 and link 24 and move them into a different fulcrum slot 31 or 32.
