A drafting head for a spinning frame comprises a weighting bar 4 movable in a vertical plane, a set of upper rollers 7, 8 mounted thereon, one or more of which may be adjustable along the length of the weighting bar 4, an arm 1 co-operating with the bar 4, adjustable spring means 12 located between the bar 4 and the arm 1, and a spring pressure indicator for indicating the pressure applied by the spring 12 to the bar 4. As shown, the spring pressure indicator consists of a pin 18 sliding in a hole in the centre of a bush 15, the end of the pin 18 passing through holes in the spring 12 and terminating in a head located between the spring 12 and a bearing 13 on the weighting bar. The upper end of the pin 18 projects above the bush 15 by an amount corresponding to the deflection of the spring 12. The position 13 at which spring pressure is applied to the bar 4 is varied by sliding the pin 18 in the slot 17 on the upper surface of the arm 1 and clamping by tightening the nut 16 on the bush 15. Thus the position of the pin 18 indicates the pressure imposed by the rollers 7 and 8. The pressure indicating device may consist of a pin or pointer fastened to the centre of the leaf spring so as to project through the side of the arm 1 a slot being provided and possibly calibrated. The arm 1 is brought into operative position by depressing the front end until the hooks at each end of the member 20 engage with a projection 21 on the arm 1 and an adjustable pin 22 on the frame 11.
