F., Albert Foundry, Belfast, both in Northern Ireland, SLATER, F., The Cottage, Matley, Stalybridge, Cheshire, and MATHER & PLATT, Ltd., Park Works, Manchester. Aug. 8. 1931, Nos. 22507 and 35874. [Class 42 (i).] To accommodate puckers in fabric fed into a stentering machine at a greater rate than that of the stenter chain, slots are formed in the clipping jaw and/or in the clip plate. When the slots are in the clipping jaw only, the fabric may be forced up into the slots by pins s mounted in the clip base and engaging successively a slide. The second Provisional Specification states that an auxiliary arm moving upwards through the bottom plate may be operated to force the fabric into the grooves. When the slots are in the clip plate the fabric may be positively depressed therein by fingers k of a lever pivoted at m and operated by an arm n engaging an abutment o, the co-operating arms p, q on the lever and the clipping jaw respectively preventing the jaw from closing before the cloth has been puckered into the slots i. The fingers k may be independently mounted on the pin m and depressed successively.
