Abstract

605,478. Drying vegetable matter. PEHRSON, J. M., and PEHRSON, R. V. Nov. 16, 1945, No. 30802. Convention date, Aug. 21. [Class 34(ii)] Finely divided material is fed through a baffle 6 into an uprising flue gas current, the more easily dried particles being carried away direct to a cyclone separator 13. Remainder are caught by a curved plate 7 and thrown back into the gas current by a rotor 8 at preferably 70 degrees to the horizontal. The material thus further dried may be carried away, the heavier particles either being again caught by the rotor, or falling to a chamber 3, to be removed by a conveyer 10. Dampers 14 and 17 adjust the cross section of the chambers 4, 9, and thus the relation of the particles carried away by the gas current to those removed by the conveyer 10.
