Abstract
756,198. Centrifugal separators. SCHUCHTERMANN & KREMER-BAUM AKT.-GES. FUR AUFBEREITUNG. Feb. 26, 1954 [March 6, 1953], No. 5819/54. Class 23. In the separation of solid particles, according to specific gravity, by means of a suspension of weighting material, a liquid of specific gravity lower than that of the suspension is fed centrally into that end of a cyclone or vortex chamber to which the suspension is tangentially introduced. In the cyclone shown the suspension is introduced by a tangential inlet 2, and the liquid which is water is introduced by a tangential inlet 6. The solid particles may be fed to the cyclone with the suspension or the liquid, and the heavy particles are discharged through an outlet 3 whilst the light particles are discharged through an axially adjustable outlet 4. The liquid may be supplied axially.
